There are 78 days from 8 October 2026 to Christmas Day 2026. That is 11 weeks and 1 day, 56 weekdays and 1,872 hours.
What this calculates
Enter a date to count to and, if you do not want today, a date to count from. This works out the days, the same time in years, months and days and in weeks, the weekdays and weekend days among them, the hours, and the day of the week the date falls on. For a birthday, the birthday countdown also gives the age you are turning.
The formula
Days
days = date − count-from dateWeeks
weeks = days ÷ 7, with the remainder in daysHours
hours = days × 24The count-from day is counted and the date is not. Weekdays are the Monday-to-Friday days among those counted.
Worked example
25 December 2026 is a Friday.
When to use it, and the mistakes to avoid
Use it for a holiday, a wedding, an exam, a deadline, a due date or the end of a contract.
The mistakes that cost the most:
- Counting both ends. Tomorrow is 1 day away, not 2.
- Treating weekdays as working days. Public holidays are not taken out.
- Reading months as 30 days. Months here are calendar months.
- Counting from the wrong date. It defaults to today; change it to plan from another day.
- Forgetting the time zone. Dates here are calendar dates, not moments.
FAQ
How many days are there until a date?
Enter the date and the calculator counts the days from today, or from any date you pick, up to but not including the date. From 8 October 2026 to Christmas Day 2026 is 78 days: 11 weeks and 1 day, or 2 months and 17 days.
Does it count today?
The count-from day is counted and the date itself is not, so tomorrow is 1 day away. That is the usual meaning of days between. If you also want the last day counted, add one.
How many working days is that?
The weekdays figure counts Monday to Friday among the days counted. It does not remove public holidays, which differ by country and year; the working days calculator is for that.
What if the date has already passed?
It counts the days since the date and says so under the main figure. The weeks, months, weekdays and hours are counted the same way backwards, so you can see how long ago something was.
How is the span in months and days worked out?
It counts whole years, then whole months, then the days left over. A month is a calendar month, so from 29 February 2024 to 28 February 2025 is 11 months and 30 days, not a year, because 28 February is before the 29th.
